Ed Foley

Picked by new President Ryan to be DCI (Director of Central Intelligence, i.e., head of CIA and the entire U.S. Intelligence Community*). He and wife Mary Pat Foley both speak Russian fluently and together are a formidable team. They both started out as analysts at CIA, along with Jack Ryan. Ed was then COS of Moscow station in the 1980s.

(*NOTE: in 2005, Congress passed legislation splitting up the dual role of the DCI. “DCI” became “DNI” (Director of National Intelligence) whose sole role was to coordinate all U.S. intelligence agencies. “D/CIA” (Director of the CIA) became the title for the CIA head.)
