Andy Hunter
Andy Hunter is a Scottish folksinger. He grew up in the Clydebank are and was educated at Duntocher primary school, Clydebank High School, Allan Glen's School and the University of Aberdeen.
In his youth he performed at the Highlanders' Institute in Glasgow. While studying French in Aberdeen, he learned songs and storytelling from Jeannie Robertson and her family.
In 1963, Hunter took up a post as English assistant at a teacher training college in Vannes in Brittany and became involved in the cultural organisation Cercles Bretons. He returned to Scotland in 1965 to take up a post lecturing in French at Heriot-Watt University.
His songs include King Fareweel, Aboyne Games and Ye Heilan Chiels. …more
