His grandfather Reynolds Hudson owned coal mines in the area and built the Sugarhouse Theater in the 1930s for the citizens of Hidden Falls; was also a benefactor of the nearby college. Fritz requested that his daughters renovate the Sugarhouse, which had fallen into disrepair.
