I'm confused. Henry Erickson was considered a suspect after they found bomb making supplies in his garage. But he was killed by a bomb under his carseat. Who put it there?

The use of a singular bomb to "accidently go off" killing Erickson in the process would: 1) draw in the police force to the staged scene,
2) provide evidence, in the form of a second partial bomb and components, left behind in the garage that Erickson might have been the bomber the whole time,
3) and remove Erickson from spoiling the setup "staged scene" being built by killing him, seen as an accidental explosion.(less)
