Is it me or do moments in this book strike anyone else as darkly humorous? I mean the humor of real life when it's hard, the kind that inspired the saying "Sometimes you have to laugh or you would cry?" In The First Circle, Vanya receives letters from his wife that are like that to me. How I felt for him reading them. They would be enough to make me wish I wouldn't get out of prison.
