In the Guerillas in the Jungle he writes that Dead-eye had been posted to the 2nd Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers. This regiment was formed 23rd April 1968. I know because I served in it. The Malayan Emergency was from 1948 to 1960. He purports to set the action in the early 1950s and then mentions a soldier listening to Elvis Presley singing about teddy bears. This song was released in 1957
I despise people who misuse honourable regiments and actions in this way because mugs who read it believe it is true. It ain't. Don't buy any of his rubbish.(less)
