My argument being, it shunted the flow of the book and was quite unnecessary. A slog even. I just didn't like the past tense prose when the rest of the book was nicely flowing in the present tense, took me right out of the story. I would have written it differently, like the stuff about the patients are reiterated back to the detective, it just wasn't needed for us to have a detailed account of all the patients, it just kept repeating itself. Other than that the rest of the book was great. (less)

Without the hypnosis of Josef the rest of the book would not have happened. Does that help?(less)

Since the biting just doesn't make sense in the context of the rest of the Ek family plot part, it makes me feel like it's just put in there to pull the rug from under the reader and then forgotten about completely.

Actually the whole deal with the Ek siblings seems really unfinished and inconclusive to me. And I honestly found their messed up situation way more interesting than the Benjamin one. But that's just me.(less)
Jason K See chapter 18. Simone is in a cafe near the place where an event is being set up. The fireworks appear to have gone off by accident during the setup.

I know …moreif you've ever watched "forensic files" on tv, you'll know how hard it is to remove all traces of blood from someone at a violent crime scene. I know josef washed up and changed clothes after the murders, but i'm really skeptical he could have removed every trace of his victims' blood from his own body. (I'm the same person how asked the question above.)(less)
