What age is best? I am concerned with the appropriateness of the material? I wanted to read it with my 9 year old and didn't want to be surprised by a sex scene of the demon sorceress bewitching the prince to lie with her and then her vagina grows teeth and kills him or something...Also while I expect violence I was hoping it wasn't too brutal such as described rape or graphic torture and punishment. Thank you.

Elizabeth Gilliam There is no sex at all in this book so it will be appropriate for you to read to your child but it is a bit slow in some spots.
