Can this series be read out of order ? I picked up a couple at a book sale ,which I'm very eager to read.

I'm on book nine, but I haven't found out what happened to Beth's story. Did it get published under Rick Eckman's name? What about all his other plagiarized stories? And did Beth stop writing and illustrating? I can't remember a single mention of it in any of the other books. I can see her and her husband being good co-writers.
