I can't say exactly why, but this is the only Connelly book that bored me. I pulled a look at the end when I was about 3/4 through. Did anyone else have this reaction?

I'm listening to the audio version and the lack of contractions is driving me nuts. Does anyone know if there's a reason why every character speaks like a robot?
