I haven't read any of the Knight Miscellany books, but I recently acquired some mismatched historical romance novels, among them Lady of Desire. I don't have any of the other books in this series, but I was wondering if it would be alright to skip the first three books. Do the previous three lead up to this one in any way? Would it take away form the stories if I read them out of order?

While you will miss out on a brief encounter where the H and h first meet in the previous book, I don't think it will greatly detract from this one. You won't get the 'aha' moment of their meeting in this one though. Of course, understanding the h's brothers and their mother's past helps add depth to this book too, but I think you would catch on relatively well and this would still be an enjoyable read anyway.(less)
