You're probably right though since the book came out in 1956. Interesting how it's the chinese where the virus started and how they kept it quiet. Meanwhile, back in real life, the spanish flu that killed so many in the world, the first cases discovered were in the US, then in france, and because of the world war and the desire to maintain morale, the outbreak was pretty much kept under wraps, just as the chinese did at the start. The spanish flu got it's name only because the spanish media put it out to the word as their king caught it. How does the british gvt handle it when the virus threatens its own land and people? Read the book and find out.
