What happened to the nobleman Dona Maria married? He seems to have just dropped out of sight after Clara enters the story.

Aaron I'm not sure, he was described as a "supercilious and ruined nobleman" so I always got the impression he was aloof to the point of near total detachme…moreI'm not sure, he was described as a "supercilious and ruined nobleman" so I always got the impression he was aloof to the point of near total detachment. We also know Dona Maria preferred to live alone so it's possible they just agreed to not see each other much after the birth of their daughter. (less)
