The state of personal technology seemed to fit with that time frame. Rain's age isn't explicitly revealed, but we know that he faked his age to join the military, and if we assume he enlisted toward the end of the war, we can surmise that he was as young as 17 in, say, 1972. That would make him at least 47 in 2002.(less)
