Was anyone else bothered by the incessant spelling and grammar mistakes in this book? I am about 60 pages in and even though I like the story these mistakes are really getting to me. Things like "My family were..." rather than "My family was..." as it aught to be. It makes me wonder whether or not this book was proofread or not.

So in this case, ‘my family were...’ fits because ‘family’ refers to a mother, father, etc. You could easily say ‘they were...’ instead.

Also, while we’re on the subject of spelling mistakes and word choices, you should have used ‘ought’, not ‘aught’. (less)
