Jane I believe these are Annie’s ashes. She was intertwined with the Wain family, and the clues are in the last 2 paragraphs.

Is there a flaw in the plot when the 2 older children leave the quite young ones on there own at the end of the book? No mention of who is taking care of them.
Patti I noticed that too and it bothers me because I wonder sometimes if Duncan and Emma are not thoughtful about their children.

What did I miss? Was the boy who killed the baby animal and frightened his mother Leo? I got to the very end of the book (audiobook) and still was never sure of that....
