I will probably be tempted to compare "Terre des Hommes" to "Le Petit Prince". As the latter is an extremelly tough piece to follow, will this ruin the whole experience for me or should I regard "Terre des Hommes" as an entirely different spiritual quest?

What do you think St. Eupery's basic philosophy is about slavery? I am a little confused if he thinks it was better to be enslaved by the Arabs than to be free. It seems to me there is a little prejudice in here against the people whom the Arabs enslaved. Maybe I am reading this wrong.

Is this book a memoir or a novel? Wikipedia cannot seem to decide, and I want to get my facts straight before I try to edit the article. The description of the book makes it sound like a memoir. However, it won the Grand Prix du roman de l'Académie française, which I'm pretty sure is only given to novels. But it also won the U.S. National book award for non-fiction. So which is it, a novel or a memoir??
