These stories actually do have something to do with the Elderlings books!
They are set in the same world, commonly referred to as "Realm of the Elderlings", i.e. they take place in the same fictional universe as the novels.

One should point out that this is true only for the Hobb stories, not for the ones written as Lindholm (both names are pen names of the same author, Margaret Astrid Ogden, as you probably know).
