I think this work is well plotted and also has a very sharp exposition even to create a different Judas (even more close to Borges's Judas). It is a reading you enjoy even more if you are aware of phylosophical concepts and existencialism works such as Kierkegaard's.(less)

Are there some relations between the Gospel of Judas and The Last Temptation of Christ? I believe Nikos Kazantzakis never read the Gospel of Judas. So how did Nikos Kazantzakis consider Juadas as a good man. Did Nikos Kazantzakis believe Gnosticism to some extent?

We could ask if Kazantzakis read the Gospel of Judas or even Borges work; but what is a fact, is that this work invites us to think.

In this case, you can follow the story and compare it with the gospel, but I think the most valuable perspective is in the philosophical dimension. From structural pespective I am very fond of the way Kazantzakis use to think about different existences through dreams and thinking. In this case could easy but you must be aware of that to enjoy it extensively.
