Jennifer Egan writes edgy, fresh. A true original, "A Visit to the Goon Squad" deserved the Pulitzer. Reading her other work - just as compelling, but as with so many, endings are problematic. I don't expect neatly tied happy endings - in fact, I hate them. But many books I've read lately just don't wrap it up at all. What do you think?

That by diving into the pool that is so signifiant throughout the story she shed her old disappointing life full of mistakes and bad impulses and was reborn into a more confident functional person. I think that after she left the consciousness raising spa she went home, divorced her skag husband, and got a real job and raised her kids right. I think she was the perfect target for The Keep concept -- that you went there to unplug and really examine your life where you are and where you want to be.(less)
