I don't think I agree with Truss's point of view. Anyone else? (e.g. page 8: "pervert the sense" - I do not think so. The sense has to come through on its own. Really early writing had nothing, no comma, no period, nothing. It is the sense that has to come through and this is just a function of language. Punctuation is secondary. But of course then, this book would not exist and my goodness: it really is a lot of fun!
