Miss Manners has more pointed advice for what to do when you're stuck in a situation where others are rude—I'd read her instead—esp. her older works, her Miss Manners' Guide to Excruciatingly Correct Behavior, which I've probably read about 5 times despite its heft. And she's funnier too!(less)
