No goldmine here just general research with cow herd and other things. Also infection been evidence that Perry had also been on the island as it was the only place the strain he was infected with existed. General research and experimention is what happens and can lead to those eureka discoveries. So the new strain and related research may or may not in real life, in general be a key, small contribution or lead on to other developments. That is the context in the book as I undersand it.(less)
