There's a lot of talk here about "Rabbit Remembered," and whether it lived up to the rest of the series. I didn't read the series. Should I hold off on this novella? Would I need to read all 4 previous books for it to make a difference, or could/should I read one of the four to get a feel for the characters involved?

Brad Erickson I would read the other ones first. This one is a lot of flashbacks.
