I am on my second go around of the first 4500 something problems. Question I find that part of the time ,we won't say how often, I have to look up the answer and work backwards ,am I wasting my time?

Eventually you will see more and more patterns faster and faster.

Try the following: Be consistent in the frequency of your study and go through the entire book and note how many days or weeks it takes you. For each individual problem give yourself a time limit of 5 minutes. Once you've completed this task cycle through it again but do it faster and for each individual problem give yourself 3 minutes and compare your results.

Ultimately, you do not want to waste valuable time pulling your hair out trying to solve one of these problems--after the time limit just look up the answer and learn the pattern. (less)
