What to read next? I have read the 4 books in this series and wondered what people what recommend next that is in the same vein? PS - i was recommended this book after reading I Aam Pilgrim which i particularly disliked - it was poorly written, poor dialogue, unrealistic characters, the polar opposite of the Jackson Lamb series. Have read Le Carre, but found them quite convoluted and humourless.

Janet I actually think you do need to read these in order to fully appreciate the characters and plot twists.

Did anyone else feel that Shirley's cocaine usage was down played (almost completely written out) to focus on her anger management issues? (Good for Shirley if she's done with the drugs, but I had a difficult time accepting the change.)

This book was crammed into about 48-hours (?) of realtime. Typically, the plots of the books have been spread out over many days or weeks. Once the action started, Shirley, et al. where almost continuously together or in adrenalized action the whole time. Shirley didn't have the opportunity or need to 'toot'. However, that's not to say her 'Dancing Queen' scene in the Epilogue wasn't to the tune of the Columbian Marching Band?(less)
