Annabelle I agree with Annaki and Andrew, I too lived in this area and so many of the people I met had similar mindsets and attitudes as the characters in this …moreI agree with Annaki and Andrew, I too lived in this area and so many of the people I met had similar mindsets and attitudes as the characters in this book. It can be offensive and off putting but it is the truth. We have to remember what they lived through and what the war represented to and for them- whether it's right or wrong or we have the same beliefs. Her descriptions are also incredibly vivid and spot on. I can smell, tastes, feel, and hear it all. (less)
