Virginia I can't find the passage but the phrase refers to being able to see better in a dark space when you've been there for a period of time, as opposed to …moreI can't find the passage but the phrase refers to being able to see better in a dark space when you've been there for a period of time, as opposed to the blindness you experience when you first walk into the dark room. Your eyes have adapted to the darkness. I had to really think this one out. It's very apt since the book is all about the characters looking at photos and news clippings from the past and putting themselves back there to see things clearly.(less)
