is this the last book? i skipped the 'melting stone' because of the negative reviews. i hope this will be better. and i also hope ms pierce will write a final battle with the emperor and/or the empress because there's a hint at the ending of book 1 about it. anyway i was hoping book 2 is still about the 4 friends....quite disappointed it's not.

These books are in the wrong order. Battle Magic should be first. The Will of the Empress and Melting Stones probably are happening close to the same time so either could be 2 or 3. So was this intentional on the part of Ms. Pierce or was this done by the Publisher?
