The language is easy to follow and the narrative is accurately set. It does not matter whether or not you know anything about the partition, or how little or vague your knowledge of it may be, this book is going to leave a deep, sad and required impact which you will cherish ever after. Butalia has shown her craft in blending research which is supposedly objective with what is deeply personal. If you are exposed to feminist research methodology, this blending will be familiar, if not, it will be a welcome addition to your understanding. It's not a recommendation that you or anyone should read this book, it is a request that we all should read it. (less)
