It shows Davey takes his responsibility seriously (he insisted on bring Cat with him vs letting someone else take care of him), Cat means a lot to him, and he even jumped out of the car and braved the highway and the long walk home with obstacles along the way, to make sure Cat was ok. Its character development? Also his relationship with his dad begins to become more positive. (less)
