Is it hard to get into the book?

Joana Mae this was easy..the back cover did it for me.

I’ve been reading this off and on for far too long and therefore forget a lot of what I’ve read, but I remember something about Emma’s mother having had an affair with Mr. Fairley and I also think someone mentioned how much alike Mrs. Fairley Emma looked. Am I right to gather that Emma is the illegitimate daughter of Mr. Fairley, or have I completely misunderstood things?
