One thing that remained unclear to me (perhaps I was not paying enough attention) is the paternity question. Who is Tamlorn's father? Is it the king (Sybel's erstwhile brother in law, if I remember correctly), or is it the queen's lover (Coren's brother)? And why does Sybel hand over Tam if it is not clear whether he is the king's biological son?

Coren took the child because he was Rianna's (his sister in law's) and she was in love with Coren's favourite brother. Paula Absolutely. I was 13 or 14 when I read it the first time. (I’m 62 now and just read it for the third time.)
