I read this ages ago and cannot recall certain details, but I remember the author mentioning crewmembers of a lost fleet or ship who are doomed to wander the Arctic as ghosts. They had a specific name, perhaps in Inuit, and I now wonder (years later) if the myth refers to the Franklin Expedition?
