They also are fighting the release of hidden exculpatory evidence and documents (that disappeared in 1984 but were rediscovered in 2019) to the defense. It has been like pulling teeth for his defense team every step of the way. Mr. Ward is currently incarcerated in the Dick Conner Correctional Center in Hominy, OK. Karl Fontenot was granted physical release on a habeus writ on 12/17/19, but the murder charges still hang over his head. The OK Attorney General is appealing the judge's decision to release Fontenot and failing that appeal, the prosecutors are considering a retrial to try to put him back on prison, but he is out on bond until those two legal threats are resolved. https://news.uark.edu/articles/52262/...(less)
