Is reading the other redwall books necessary to read any one of them ?

Is this a book like the others, like Introduction about woodland and enemies like Cluny? I think this series has a twist like the others but do you like this format of the Redwall series or do you like more of the fairy wizard troll cyclops god kind? Please answer. I am not sure I like Salamandastron because there is only a great badger lord and bunnies, hares and rabbits as their warriors and soldiers.
