In this o…moreI was thinking last night that the resolution to most of the murders in this series have some plot holes, but I don’t usually mind too much. In this one I thought the resolution of both murders didn’t make sense. Neither of the supposed murders had enough of a motive and it’s unclear to me why the hermit became a hermit if he had a happy family and a son he loved? And how and when did he load up all that treasure and drag it into the woods unnoticed? It was pretty shoddy in terms of resolving the mysteries. But, I love the characters so much, I’ll keep reading her stories. I guess I’m not in it for the resolution. (less)

This revising of history made me give it 4, instead of 5 stars. I did hear the author speak on a podcast about how in this book she wanted to show how Gamache is a flawed human, who makes mistakes. So that may have been the motivation behind it. (less)
