It has almost no link to Mitford, doesn't really advance character development, and will be referred to in later novels if details are needed to fill in the blanks. Much of this one is taken up with an old journal that I found mostly tedious, though somehow interesting at the same time. I did finally skip several pages when it went on and on, and I wanted to get back to the present. It does introduce some interesting Irish characters and has a few mysteries too, but it's still not an integral part of the Mitford series.(less)
