I just finished this again for the first time in over 20 years, and it was still cute. But I don't remember anything about when it was supposed to be set. Does it say and I just managed to miss it? It seems both old fashioned and contemporary, and with it being set on a deserted island, it's difficult to pin down. Cars exist, so it can't be that far back, but the girls and Mr. P are comparatively old fashioned.
