It is the scientist who borrows from God to do his work. On the atheistic view, there is no valid reason to expect any of the above, as Dawkins himself actually admits:

The exchange obviously placed Dawkins in an awkward position, as it should. His life philosophy is completely circular, irrational, and oddball, and has no relation to how humans actually live.

"If we are products of blind, material forces, the logical conclusion is that our actions are ultimately determined by blind, material forces. That is the cutting edge view among many scientists today. They tell us that the power of choice is an illusion.
But is that view true to human experience? Clearly not. We all make choices from the moment we wake up in the morning. John Searle, a philosopher at USC, says if you deny the reality of free will, then when you go to a restaurant you should say, "Just bring me whatever the laws of nature have determined that I will get."
What is the purpose of philosophy? It's to explain human experience. A view that contradicts human experience is a failed philosophy." -- Nancy Pearcey(less)
