There is one particular sex scene between a main character and a side character that made me feel physically ill (literally, no exaggeration), just because it was so WRONG. I almost never get mad at books, but this one took the cake.

If you want to read the book and have an OK reading experience, you can skip certain parts and DNF at 76% and you should be fine.

SECTIONS TO SKIP:

STOP at: 52%, page 321 in the PDF:
“Amazed that he held credit, that people were willing to reserve and book things just because he gave them numbers.”

Safely START again at: 55%, page 340 in the PDF:
“Vadim rapped his knuckles on Dan’s metal door.”

I read this section and want to bleach my brain.

STOP reading all together at: 76%, page 463 in the PDF (when they get back to camp after Thailand):
“To no avail, even when he added a frustrated “woof!””

Seriously, DNF at this point. That's the closest to a happy ending you will get from MERCENARIES.

Giving this book a shot and skipping the sections mentioned is the 2nd best option. The best option? Come up with a head-canon for what you want to happen after book 1. I made up mine (again, it's in my review if you are interested). Write down a happy ending YOU love and believe in it. That is my honest recommendation.(less)
