The show had a lousy budget, with a production crew that used outdated or ineffective work ethics. The cast was treated pretty weakly and the writers were forced to cut a lot of stuff out.

The first two seasons at least made an effort, but the third one fell flat as everyone was just rushing to cash in their paychecks.

Pop Arena does a great online review series for the books and the show.(less)
