Never read Science-Fiction before, nor do I find it appealing to me, but George R.R. Martin is my favorite author. Would you recommend this book for someone who has never ever read Sci-Fi?

It's a bit quirky but very accessible, being humorous with a lot of action and adventure, so definitely not something very dry and arduous like a hard sci-fi book can be. It's also split into 5 separate stories, so you easily stop after one of them and pick up the book again later. (less)

Tuf lives isolated yet never feels lonely, takes everything very literal and hates being touched. Is he meant to be autistic (as with Asperger)? And if so how is this connected to his body being overly large, "chalk white" and completely hairless??

This might explain Tuf's adversion to the fantasy Tolly Mune creates about them. Tuf wanted to let it be known that no such thing happened.(less)
