Captivating book that graphically describes everyday poor life in the turn-of-the-century Appalachians. Robert Morgan is as gifted a writer as David McCullough, James Michenor and Amy Tan. Has anyone else read this?

Holly Yes, it is one of my most favorite books ever! It is a great story, beautifully writtren!! Highly recommend!

However, it may not be an easy or enjoyable read for a teen. There's lots of drama and excitement, but all centered around loss and disappointment.(less)

What condition did her little brother have that would cause him to have so many "white worms" in his abdomen? I tried to research it and found nothing. If the author is just making stuff up, he should have been a little more creditable.
