Does Davey become any less of a psychopath? Does he finally succeed in murdering poor Dora, and getting away with it by batting his baby blue eyes? Do Anne and Marilla ever figure out that lying is not Davey's biggest character flaw? Does any care about Dora's PTSD at all? I'm not sure I can finish this awful book because I keep ranting in my head about the vicious boy, and his pathetic little victim.

I have seen all the movies of Anne of Green Gables, and therefore know what happens. Do I have to read this one before I read Anne of the Island? I've heard that there's not as much Gil in this, and I already know what happens in the next one... Is it worth it to take time to read this? Or should I just go ahead and skip it?

I have seen the animated series of Anne as a whole. Am I fine to skip directly to this book or should I first read Anne of the Green Gables? I've heard that the animated adaptation was quite faithful to the 1stbook (50 episodes) but as for the fellow book readers out there and those who have seen the show should I still read the first book before starting Anne of Avonlea despite watching the animated series from 1979?
