I really hated this book, the story line and collective grammar makes me feel all out of whack. It makes me confused on what the actual objective is and would not go on a reading list for my kids. What is the point?

Arguably, i…moreThat's just one more reason to have an issue with this book. Truth be told, there has been controversy regarding the message of this book. Arguably, it could be reasonably said that it advocates self-mutilation to satisfy the whims of a crowd, destroying what makes you special just to avoid being shunned by those who are jealous of you. Not exactly a nice message.

There was even a free alternate 'parody' ending: 'The Rainbow Fish Keeps His Scales'. Speaking for myself, I kinda loathed the original version while I really like the parody: It teaches self-respect, love for individuality and assertiveness. That's far more constructive than the alternative.(less)
