Is the character of a crime suspect usually unstable and therefore from the start, Adam does not consider a Psychiatrist as a murderer ?

A psychiatrist can be just as mentally unstable as his or her patients. I think, as in the other novels in the series, Adam was basing his decision on the behaviors he observed and the possible motives.(less)

I'm about a third through and finding this very disappointing after Cover Her Face - instead of the lovely well drawn characters it just seems to be an endless round of asking lots of people to go over their movements. It feels more like a jigsaw puzzle and I'm not very invested in the characters because we meet them so briefly it's easy to lose track of them. Does the book/ series improve?

bluerose My sentiments exactly. I really enjoyed Cover Her Face and had to force myself to finish this one.
