I had the honor to ask today my question to Delphine which read: "After reading your gripping book, I read a review mentioning that Lou was obviously autistic and that she had Asperger's syndrome. This was not so obvious to me since it is never mentioned in the novel. So I was wondering whether this assumption was right and if so, why it is never mentioned." This answer was no! Lou is not autistic, she is only shy and precaucious. Thanks a lot Delphine for your answer which conforted in me in my understanding of Lou.(less)

Sage only friendship, they have an inappropriate age gap + lou is interested as someone else.
