Is this the Dear America book I remember reading in school? I remember a slave girl, who was black, was taken to a new land, couldn't climb stairs even (And this guy had to teach her), was learning to read, and was treated pretty well by her masters compared to other slaves. I know it was in the Dear America series... Can anyone help to confirm, and if it isn't this book, tell me which one it is???
