I love China Mieville, but I've been slogging though this book for six weeks and barely read 200 pages. It just doesn't feel as though anything has happened yet and I don't know how much longer I can go. Need to return to the library anyway. Can anyone make a case to me as to whether I should take a break and pick it up again? Does this get better in the second half?

I'd say if you haven't gotten to the star trek stuff and Wati yet, you should keep going, but if you've gotten that far and it still isn't your cup of tea, then maybe it won't be.
